1,000W of Solar Into a 12V Bank
The MPPT 150/70-Tr handles up to six 170W panels in a 3S2P configuration at 12V — enough solar to cover a liveaboard's daily energy budget of 150–200Ah without generator use. At 24V it supports up to 2,000W, making it the right controller for large catamaran and trawler hardtop arrays. At 99% peak efficiency, nearly all harvested solar energy actually reaches your battery bank.
Full Victron Ecosystem Integration
The VE.Direct port connects to a Victron Cerbo GX, so solar yield, battery voltage, and charge state appear in the VRM portal alongside your MultiPlus-II and BMV-712 data. Via Bluetooth, VictronConnect shows daily, weekly, and monthly solar yield history. Also supports temperature-compensated charging when paired with a Victron battery temperature sensor.
MPPT 150/70 vs. MPPT 100/30: When to Choose This One
Choose the 150/70-Tr for arrays of 500W or more, 24V systems, or when you're planning to expand your panel count over time. Choose the Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 for smaller 1–2 panel setups up to 440W at 12V. The 150/70-Tr has higher upfront cost but eliminates the need to upgrade the controller as your array grows.
Common Applications
- Liveaboard solar refit — 600W to 1,000W at 12V
- Catamaran hardtop solar array at 24V, up to 2,000W
- Offshore passage-maker minimizing generator runtime
- Full marina-free anchorage energy independence
