The Victron Energy SmartShunt 500A/50mV (Part: SHU050150050) is a compact Bluetooth battery monitor with no physical display. It delivers the same precision state-of-charge tracking as the BMV-712 Smart — via the VictronConnect app — while taking up zero panel space. The best choice for tight installations, secondary banks, and Cerbo GX builds.

Same Accuracy as the BMV-712, Zero Panel Space
The SmartShunt uses the same coulomb-counting method as Victron's BMV series — tracking every amp into and out of your battery bank — with SOC accuracy within 1%. All data is in the VictronConnect app on your phone. In a Cerbo GX system, the SmartShunt feeds real-time SOC, voltage, and current into the VRM online portal via VE.Direct, with no separate display required anywhere on the boat.
SmartShunt vs. BMV-712: Which to Choose
Choose the SmartShunt if you don't have panel space for a display, your Cerbo GX or phone is your primary interface, or you're monitoring a secondary bank (engine start, bow thruster). Choose the Victron BMV-712 Smart if you want a physical display at the helm or nav station showing SOC at a glance without opening an app.
Common Applications
- Primary house bank monitor when panel space is tight
- Secondary or starter battery monitoring alongside a main BMV-712
- Cerbo GX ecosystem — feeds directly into VRM via VE.Direct
- Catamaran or multihull with multiple independent battery banks
