Seakeeper Gyro Sizing Guide: Models 1–40, Installed Cost, and Quote Planning

From our complete Seakeeper gyro guide — compare every model, see installed-cost ranges, and request a quote through certified installers.

Seakeeper gyro stabilizers eliminate up to 95% of boat roll at anchor and underway — a different product class from Seakeeper Ride, which targets underway pitch and roll on smaller center consoles. Gyros are sold with professional installation, not as standalone online purchases.

Seakeeper 3 vs. Seakeeper 4 vs. Dometic DG3

In the 35–44 ft band, three systems compete directly. The Seakeeper 3 is the historical best-seller with the largest installed base. The Seakeeper 4 delivers 4,000 N·m·s (vs. 3,000) in a similar footprint — often the best value on a dollars-per-N·m·s basis. The Dometic DG3 matches Seakeeper 3 momentum but spools to stabilization in roughly 9.5 minutes (vs. ~30+ minutes), uses less operating power, and eliminates hydraulics.

Gyro vs. Seakeeper Ride — do you need both?

Usually no. Ride covers underway comfort on boats up to ~30 ft. Gyros address at-anchor roll and larger vessels. If your boat is under 30 ft and your primary pain is rough runs offshore, start with Ride. If you anchor in rolly harbors or run a 35 ft+ express or center console, a gyro is the relevant conversation.

Power and helm integration

Seakeeper 1–6 run on 12V DC — no generator required on most recreational installs. Seakeeper 10 and larger use 208–230V AC and need adequate onboard generator or shore power during spool-up. Seakeeper 2+ integrates with Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, B&G, Lowrance, and Furuno MFDs via NMEA 2000 ConnectBox — the same brands in our electronics catalog.

How to get a quote

Submit a quote request with boat make/model, LOA, home port, and project timeline. We provide model guidance and connect you with certified installers — MeridianRig does not sell gyros as standalone dropship units.
