RGBW vs. Single-Color Underwater Boat Lights: Which Should You Buy?

When you start shopping underwater lights, the first fork in the road is color: single fixed color (usually blue or white), dual-color, or full-color RGBW. Here's how to decide.

Single-color lights

Single-color lights — most often blue — are the most affordable option and produce excellent brightness because all the LED output goes to one color. Blue penetrates water especially well and is the classic "glowing marina" look. The trade-off is zero flexibility: what you buy is what you get, forever.

Dual-color lights

Dual-color fixtures (commonly white/blue) let you cross-fade between two looks — white for visibility and cleaning fish, blue for ambiance. A good middle ground if you want some flexibility without full color.
