NMEA 2000 (N2K) is the standard network protocol that lets your chartplotter, radar, autopilot, engine data, wind instruments, and AIS share information on a single cable backbone.
What You Need
- NMEA 2000 backbone cable (typically 6–10 meters for a center console)
- Two 120Ω terminators (one at each end of the backbone)
- T-connectors for each device
- Powered tap (often integrated in a MFD or powered T-connector)
